The Denver based rock and hip-hop musical group Flobots mission is “creating positive change by harnessing the power of music and the those who love it.”
So featuring AfA in their video “Rise” makes perfect sense. Two of the band’s members, Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit, have been guest poets at AfA workshops. Jonny 5 is a trained Art from Ashes facilitator. The Flobots’ work with many non-profit organizations. Several of the organizations are featured in the video.
When it comes to the power of words to change and the power of people to come together to ‘rise’ above pain, fear, and hate, the song hits all the right notes.
